Starting to run is exciting, but if you wear glasses, you might wonder “Are they going to slide? Fog up? Bounce everywhere?” Don’t worry—you’re not alone! Plenty of runners wear glasses, and with a few simple tips, you can keep your runs clear and comfortable.
1. Choose the Right Frames
Lightweight, snug-fitting frames are your best friend. Look for ones with rubberized nose pads or temple grips to help them stay put. If your everyday glasses are a little loose, you can grab inexpensive silicone ear hooks like these or straps to keep them in place during runs. I personally use the ear hooks to keep my glasses snug on my face they work great.
2. Combat Fogging
Sweat and heat can make your lenses fog up, especially in humid weather. A quick fix? Use an anti-fog spray or wipe before heading out. If you’re running in cooler temps, try pushing your glasses slightly forward on your nose to improve airflow.
3. Keep Sweat Away
No one likes salty sweat streaking onto lenses! A moisture-wicking headband or cap can keep sweat from dripping down your face. It also doubles as sun protection—win-win!
4. Clean Often
Dust, sweat, and sunscreen can smudge lenses fast. Keep a soft cloth or small pack of lens wipes in your running bag so you’re always ready to clear your view.
5. Consider Sunglasses
If you run outside a lot, prescription sports sunglasses are a game-changer. They’re designed to stay put and handle the elements. But don’t feel pressured to invest right away—start with what you have and upgrade later if needed.
Remember: Your Run, Your Way
Running with glasses might take a little experimenting, but it shouldn’t stop you. Plenty of runners do it every day! Start small, find what feels comfortable, and most importantly—enjoy the journey.
